Alan Davidson About Alan Davidson
My Fleet Street career started in 1966 when I started work straight from school as a messenger at Keystone Press Agency on £4.10 shillings a week (£4.50) with an extra 10 shillings (50p) when on late shifts. I returned to Keystone 3 years later as a staff photographer, having successfully answered the two questions at my interview with George Pratt, the General Manager;
1. Do you have a camera? A. Yes
2. Does it take flash? A. Yes
“Then you can start on Monday!”

I stayed there only a short while (I wasn’t very good!) and moved to various home counties local newspapers to improve my skills, eventually doing shifts for the Evening Standard, Evening News, Daily Express and Sunday Telegraph. I started working with the Daily Mail in 1980 covering the Notting Hill Carnival for them, and have been there ever since.

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph some of the worlds most celebrated stars and royalty, and this is a selection of my favourite moments from my archive - some posed, some caught more than a little off-guard!

I have used Fixation for Repairs, Advice, Hire and new Equipment ever since they started - they are always efficient, professional and helpful, and  understand the need to get us working again as soon as possible. Without the help from Mike, Paula, Barry, Mickey, Mike Mac, Peter and every one else I would not be able to supply the world with my images!!!!
