On January 23rd, Canon announced two important new Professional lenses;-

The 200mm f2 is due to become available from April 2008, and the 800mm from June.

 

On January 29th, Nikon also announced some important additions to their Professional lens range, all using the new Nano-Crystal technology to give optimum performance with the new FX (virtually full-frame) sensor in the D3.  Perhaps the most interesting of these is the new 24mm Perspective Control lens, bring wide-angle architectural photography with full automatic metering control within the grasp of the Nikon digital user.
