I used to go and see bands - The Who, Man, ACDC, Led Zeppelin, Free - and would sneak a camera in and shoot black and white. I started sending my photos into the London music papers - Sounds, Melody Maker and the NME. They all started publishing my photos of The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Jam, etc just as the punk scene happened.
I worked a lot with Chysalis Records as one of their staff photographers, and when Geoff Barton started a magazine called Kerrang! my colour shots of ACDC that week became the first cover, and my career as a rock photographer really took off.
I spent most of the 80’s touring with bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Def Leppard, Kiss, Motley Crue, and I was also a tour photographer for Paul McCartney, George Harrison, The Who, amongst many others.
I’ve always worked freelance and mainly now shoot tours for clients, and worldwide travel photography.
Fixation has been my main supplier of cameras and equipment for the last twenty years, with great service and advice, and they’ll always go the extra mile (in my case miles) for you...
