Nikon announces new telephoto zoom

Nikon have this morning announced a new telephoto zoom, aimed squarely at sports and wildlife photographers – the Nikkor 180-400mm ƒ/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR.

It’s the first Nikkor telephoto to include a built-in 1.4x converter, accessible from an ergonomic lever on the side of the lens, increasing the focal length in a blink to 560mm ƒ/5.6.

Nikon’s proven Vibration Reduction technology gives up to 4-stops advantage, allowing for handheld shooting at slower shutter speeds.

The lens is also weather sealed and the front element has a fluorine coating to shrug off water and dirt without compromising image quality.

  • 180-400mm (252-560mm with converter enabled)
  • 27 elements in 9 groups (including 8 ED & 1 fluorite element)
  • 40.5mm rear filter fitting
  • 128 x 362.5mm
  • 3.6kg

It is available from March 8th and pre-orders can be placed now. Contact for more information.
